Encouraging me to run just a little bit faster

Created by Liz 3 years ago

Seeing Eric at the end of parkrun each week, stopwatch in hand, made me want to do my best, and run as fast as I could in the final stretch. He'd often say a word of encouragement as I reached the line, like, 'Good finish!' which made me glow with the sort of reassurance which kept me parkrunning. He treated everyone's effort as equal, from the fastest to those bringing up the rear. Somehow, he managed to give off an aura of non-judgmental encouragement which is entirely the spirit of parkrun, and of a man at ease with himself, and wanting the best for all those around him.

Thank you, Eric.
