Eric was a valuable member of our team of volunteer lock keepers at Grindley Brook. I first came across Eric on our induction day at Ellesmere in 2015 and have remained friends and colleagues since. There are three things I remember about working with Eric.....his unflappable nature and laugh, and those of you that frequent the locks will know what I mean, secondly as mentioned elsewhere, his shorts! I’m pretty hardy but we’d all be wrapped up, wet weather gear on and Eric would be in his shorts. Finally, his knowledge and love of Rugby Union and readiness to share it with me. I’ll miss you Eric...we maybe missing your physical presence and treasured coffee mug, which I regularly retrieved when you had gone home, but I know you won’t be far away. Thank you Eric, God Bless.
